[G4] upgrading to 10.4 and possible faulty nic

I don't know what would cause the ethernet to run, but slowly.  Maybe
it's the cable?  Have you tried swapping cables with your roommate's
computer?

Unfortunately thats not the issue - I've tried two different cables, both of
which worked just fine with the roommate's computer.
(hopefully i'm replying to this in the right way for the mailing list - if
not then sorry!)
