[G4] Belkin F5U220 USB 2.0 PCI card

I recently purchased a Belkin F5U220 USB 2.0 PCI card.
When my Quicksilver G4 (2001) goes to sleep it disconnects the card and my
iPod will not sync.
This is definitely because of Leopard. Does anyone know a work around?
