[G4] how to trash "locked items?"

In System 9.x, one could force an empty of the Trash by holding down the option key and issuing the Empty Trash command.  I do not know if it works in OS X, however.  Sometimes, you need to Restart so that the files in question will not be in use, though that doesn't seem to be your problem.  The other thing that you can do is to go into Terminal and force deletion with everything in the Trash Folder with a sudo command.  But, best make sure what you are deleting first.
