[G4] nonexistent disk icon

1. Reformat the drive into two partitions of less than 128Gb each.  
The controller will see the individual partitions as individual  
drives instead of as one drive which is larger than the limit of 128Gb.

2. I cannot explain why this is happening, it is something I have  
never seen. But...... have you tried zapping the PRAM by holding down  
the Command, Option, P and R buttons at startup? If you try this,  
hold the four buttons down until the machines sounds its chime at  
least three times. Then, allow it to continue a normal startup and  
see if the problem still exists.

3. Are you sure that you are not using a DVD disk? A DVD disk will  
not appear to have any content if viewed in a CD reader. If I  
remember correctly, iLife 05 came in a set of two discs, one was a CD  
and the other was a DVD. Each is labeled with the type of disc.
