I have a G4 1.25 dual using a -  SONY DVD/CD ReWritable Drive DRX-83OUL-T.

FW 800 cable off of a FW 800 PCI card.  Totally plug and play.  So 
easy, even a PC man could do it.  :-)  A 10 on a scale of 10 in my 
book.  No conflicts.

I Paid about $120 (delivered) 5 months ago and it came bundled with a 
10-pak of DVD-R.  I've only used CD's with it.  Comes with mac 
software on CD.  All drag and drop.  I'm running OS 10.3.9.
