Boot into open firmware:  restart, holding down the CMD+OPT+O+F keys until text
starts scrolling down the screen. Type in these commands, one a time, and hit
the return key (the last on restarts the machine, so hold down the C key):

reset-nvram
set-defaults
reset-all
