If you are using the Elgato Eye TV Hybrid for recording TV, then you are encoding the source through software using the QS CPU. Elgato has a new unit out which handles digital TV and encodes it through hdwe before transmitting it on to your computer (I think it retails for less than the old analog EyeTV 250), This would reduce the demand on your CPU. Also, from reviews at XLR8yourmac.com, the 7448 chip is supposed to consume less power and run cooler than the older G4 chips, which might be worth considering if you are running 24/7.
