Thanks for the info guys. I have 512mb ram in the box, so this should get me started. I hope so because if I can't find the os on ebay, I checked ebay in uk and found nothing so will have to shell out for that. I am not sure how much I want to invest in what some may call an 'aging' machine. Once again thanks for the comments, i'll no doubt be back when I have a working system. -----Original Message----- From: "O'Brien" <obgraph at hiwaay.net> To: "A place to discuss Apple's G4 computers." <g4 at listserver.themacintoshguy.com> Sent: 27/09/07 15:38 Subject: Re: [G4] G4 Tigers On Thu, 27 Sep 2007 09:18:59 -0500, O'Brien wrote: > Just get a standard release of Mac OSX 10.x.x. Just to clarify: There are OSX versions for the iMac, eMac, etc. that are meant to be used with specific models. The standard OSX, though, works with *all* models as long as they have enough speed and RAM to handle it. I think any G4 Mac (some G3 Macs) will run all version (cats) of 10 if they have enough RAM. One of my Macs might be the same model as yours and it's running 10.4.8. You should have at least 512Megs of RAM. It would probably run with less -- just not as well. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
