I've been searching various web sites for info on upgrading my G4 MDD 1.25GHz/FW800, OS 10.5.2 to SATA hard drives. I currently have 3 internal HDS (one for the OS and two 300GB HDs for data and back up). I installed a PCI controller card to use those 300GB HDs. I'm running out of storage space and one of the back up HD is showing signs of crashing. So I'm considering replacing all with one small SATA HD for the OS and two 500GB SATA HDs for my data (I do photography and have lots of music as well). I've researched SATA HDs and PCI controller cards for internal and external SATA conversion/use. Seagate and Western Digital look good and Sonnet Tempo and SIIG controller cards look good too (I also scanned what was available at OWC). Is this a reasonable upgrade investment, as I'm not planning to buy a new Mac for another 8 to 14 months (and I will use the G4 as a back up once I get the new computer)? I'm also considering a new external SATA HD (such as LaCie 500) as well as enclosing the HDs I pull out once they're replaced by the SATA HDs. I welcome any comments and recommendations Thanks, Rob
