And the PRAM battery is fairly new with good voltage? It becomes suspect if it is over 4 years old, or even sooner if you've not had the machine plugged in to power for lengthy periods of time. Also, consider using a UPS with a feature that deals with brownouts. That eases the traumatic effects of power outages and weak voltage from the line.
