I have nothing against AppleWorks myself, though I've seen it crash a  
lot in Tiger. Maybe I'm just missing some kind of fix, but I had it  
at the latest patch and still it would quit suddenly as soon as I'd  
try typing.

I find NeoOffice to be very useful, and again it costs nothing at all  
to use, though one is free to donate to the developers.
