[G4] upgrade or buy new mac?

I have a Sawtooth running OS 10.3.9 because Tiger and its successors will not talk to my SE/30 file server. This 8500 running OS 9.1 has trouble with the iWay because iCab is no longer being updated for "obsolete" Macs.

My AAPL stock has been productive but I really wonder if I want to continue an investment in what has become an entertainment company. APPL's are a thing of the past and the equivalent resides in a dot app package that is utterly confusing to me.

My 1982 Jeep, older than the Mac itself, still cruises the iWay that is Interstate 25 when I want to go that way. Would Apple prefer change the gauge of railroad rails so it could compete with the GE p-6 engines.

What the hell does Apple think? Is the denigration of usefulness deliberate to enhance sales? That's a charge better aimed at Microsoft but Excel still reads version 3 files. What do I use to open MacDraw-I files?

I have an old peecee loaded with Ubuntu which I think may be the real answer but it does require my knowledge of UNIX from the 1970's. Sed, grep, and cat work fine just as the similar tools of MPW (Macintosh Programmers Workshop) from Apple once did until it was not updated for OS neXt.
