Speaking of drives, I thought the group might find this of interest: About a month ago, I installed a Seagate 320Gig IDE HD into an i-rock Firewire/USB2 enclosure that I ordered. The enclosure is well-built and very spiffy-looking -- much nicer than the picture of it looks. It took me about two minutes to install the HD on the slide-out sled and re-close the enclosure. I've had it running for a month, now, and it is absolutely silent and as cool as a cucumber (it has no fan). I'm not exaggerating: I can't hear it running and can't feel it running. I know it's running because the little blue light is on and the HD shows-up on the desktop. And, I'm happy to find that it sleeps when my Mac does. A neat feature of the enclosure is that it spins the HD down and sleeps after some time of inactivity -- this is independent of the activity state of the rest of the system. So far, I'm very happy with my choice. The enclosure shipped from New Egg the day after I ordered it online. It took almost a week and a half for the HD to arrive from eGoodz, but I'm sure the holidays interfered. Shipping for both items was free/included.
