I have some (developing) interest in ProTools. I have an Audiomedia3 pci soundcard. Digidesign are VERY specific about what hardware/software is compatible. Somehow I don't think they have tested your old hardware with a CPU upgrade! If you look on their website you will find lots of info about what s/w, os, hardware combinations are approved. I am using a G4 dual 450MHz tower, with ATTO UL3S and SCSI drives, for this reason. I'm running 10.3.9 but had to experiment with versions of quicktime and iTunes to make it still work with the Audiomedia 3 and ProTools LE 6.2.3. I cannot now upgrade anything without breaking my working combination! A good example of LEM, cos it's still a very usable tool, which would cost a lot to replace!
