It's a phone modem. You need a wire that runs under the motherboard to the back panel which should have a phone jack. If your machine doesn't have that jack then the hole will be blocked with a small plate. I guess you don't need it, so unscrew this small daughter board and lift it off the connector. Go to the LEM swap list and offer it for sale. People who use phone modems sometimes have them blown up be lightning.

Otherwise just leave it there.
