Mac User since 1986, I no longer buy anything but Seagate, Maxtor or LaCie. However, IBM hard drives was bought out by Hitachi and they seem to be ok. Way back when I was buying the computers for the machines that sort the mail, Maxtor drives were the leading edge of technology and therefore problematic. I've since bought two External Maxtors - 500 and 750 GB - and they have worked great. IMO, Western Digital seems to be on a level with Packard Bell PeeSee's. Have had flawles service from Seagates. Life has once again become wonderful since USB replaced SCSI.
