[G4] Apple Mail disappeared

Hello,

Anybody know what happened to me?

Here is the message I get when I try to look at my mail, both  
received and sent.

The message from The Vitamin Shoppe  
<thevitaminshoppe at e.vitaminshoppe.com> concerning “Only 1 week left -  
don't miss out on FREE SHIPPING.” has not been downloaded from the  
server. You need to take this account online in order to download it.

I can only get today's mail, everything prior is gone.  What happened?
