[G4] Mac is the best!

I recently purchase a used
IMac in order connect with my iPhone-5 and my iPad-1
But I still love my G4 it is a Dual 142 MHz PowerMac running Systems 9.2.2 up to OS 10.4.11 I just can't part with some of my older software that will not run on 
On my iMac with system 10.8.3  I feel that Apples newest computers are going backwards by not including  DVD/CD capability without the additional expense of a separate DVD/CD player/recorder. How do you all feel about this matter?
