I have two hard drives in my G4 MDD and of course the larger one has a problem. In fact to the point that I don't use it. Both have the same programs so I can switch back and forth with no great effect except for capacity.

The problem is that the color is washed out and cannot be adjusted using System Preferences. I have done extensive testing including swapping out the video card (Radeon 9800 Pro), reinstalled OS 10.4.11 multiple times, reinstalled AOL, repaired HD 1 from HD2, reset permissions many times and on and on. Long after the problem surfaced, I also swapped the processor for a dual 1.6 which changed nothing.

I have come to the conclusion that it is the HD itself since when using HD2, everything is normal. And it is not my 23" Apple Cinema display, either.

I am mainly hanging on to this machine since it is a dual boot version and I still have a few old OS9.2 files I want to look at occasionally.

Now to the question....

The bad HD is a 120gig model and given the prices these days I may as well install something new & larger. Looking at System Profiler, it's indentified as ATA. So, I should order what?
