I say yes. Why? Because if anything goes wrong you get on site repairs. The service person comes to your place and fixes it on the spot. I had to have a motherboard replaced on my dual 2 G5 last year. Without Applecare, I would have had to take it to a repair place and wait over a week for them to repair it.
