Here are some instructions I saved when I had that problem: Here is the Spotlight trick that forces Spotlight AND FINDER to re- index the drives and partitions: Open: System Preferences > Spotlight Click the "Privacy" tab. ADD the icons for any or all of your hard drives and partitions. Close the Preferences pane. AGAIN, right away: Open System Preferences > Spotlight Click the "Privacy" tab REMOVE the icons for any or all of your hard drives and partitions. Close the Preferences pane. Spotlight will re-index the "any or all" of your hard drives and partitions that you removed from the list. Note: Spotlight will take a long time to re-index everything. Depends on the quantity of files and folders on your drives and partitions. Don't be surprised if it takes h o u r s. Don't be surprised if the Spotlight time counter lies. Note: This SpotLight action has a beneficial affect on the Command + F, and the Find in a Finder window pane. ... Finder was not finding all of the files either.
