[G5] recording telephone calls

I'd like to record phone calls directly into my G5.

I've tried an old Radio Shack "Duophone" (Catalog number 43-236B)  
plugged into the line in port.

Nothing happens except a hum.

The Duophone works (after a fashion) on a micro cassetter recorder,  
but I need to go direct to digital.

Suggestions?
