Get Flip4Mac (supported by Microsoft) but also available at versiontracker and Quicktime Pro. Flip4Mac allows you to read the files in Quicktime, and QT Pro allows you to splice them. Flip4Mac is free (at least until you want to do more sophisticated stuff).
