Burning rewriteable CDS

Good morning , all

I have two part-time jobs (and two offices plus a home office).  I need to
have a great deal of information available at all times because I get calls
at all three places.  At home I have a G4 with a CD-DVD burner.  At one job
I have a new PowerBook and at the second job I have an older Gateway.  I
have been carrying a zip drive around with me, but thought that I might be
able to use rewritable CDs for the two Macs (the Gateway doesn't have a CD
burner).  I have burned 100s of music CDs using Toast.  When I tried to
following the Mac Help directions, I initialized the disc on inserting it,
and then clicked on the Burn CD from Special in the menu bar.  I get a box
that says Burn CD and nothing happens.  I have waited up to an hour, and
there is no movement on the progress bar and when I eject the disc, there is
no information on it.
