You can run up to Jaguar 10.2.8. Which, until about a week or so ago, was the latest Mac OS. You may even be able to move to Panther (which might be a tad faster) with a little work. I am running the Sonnet Tempo Trio PCI Firewire/USB card in my old Power Mac. You might be able to run a Sonnet USB card and a software patch (or not) and take your machine all the way up to Panther. I would read the info at Apple's web site on Panther requirements, then go to Sonnet's web site to see about a low cost USB card for your PCI bus if you are in the Panther mood. Panther may, or may not run on your Mac. But for sure, you can move to Jaguar. I *would* max out the memory in your G3. You can buy memory on ebay (some even sell it with a money back guarantee). As you probably know, Apple branded memory is very expensive. How much memory do you have in your Mac? Is the max 2 GB's? If so, spend the money to upgrade your RAM, then upgrade to Jaguar. Now that Panther is out, you can buy Jaguar CD's on ebay. Load it, then do a auto update to 10.2.8. jack in Portland oregon
