cleaning the mouse results in .....

I took apart the bottom of my Apple Desktop Bus II mouse to clean it, and
now it won't do any clicking.

When I slid the cover around to release it, the ball came out easily. Not
much dust in the cavity, either. So I dropped the ball back in, put the
cover on and slid it around until it locked. The mouse will respond to
rolling all over the screen, but not clicking.

What do I need to do to fix it? I am getting ready to sell my beige G3
tower, monitor, etc..., and need it the mouse to work.
