[HM] iMac woes

Hi all,

I'm trying to rescue my daughter's G3 333MHz iMac; it is no longer 
recognising CDs.  It is running System 9.0.4 with 192 Mb RAM.  It is the 
tray loading CD version.

I put a disk in and I can hear it spinning but it doesn't show on the 
desktop.  I cannot get it to start from the system CD while holding down 
the 'C' key.
I have checked the Extensions folder and the CD/DVD driver is installed 
and enabled.

I've tried zapping the PRAM to no effect.  Any other suggestions?
