Anything that physically resides on the camera will pick up motor
noise and the AGC circuit will search for any sound anytime it is
quiet. Someone once also a device to fool the AGC circuit (high freq
tone) but I have not seen it around lately.
Get an external mic (I use Samson and Sennheisers) and don't mount it
on the camera if possible.
