yeah, that's another way to do it - by putting together a clip reel from iMovie and then just importing that to the Avid. You'll lose the original tc, of course, but as long as it's not necessary to go back to the original tapes, I guess he could live with it. The way to burn in TC thru with a DV camera is to turn on Display during the capture. Unfortunately, it's not like a pro deck where you can position the tc (like lower third), but you do get the DV tc in the picture. I believe that iMovie starts all clips with tc of 00:00;00 (you iMovie mavens can jump in and correct me here, if I'm wrong), so once the material is captured into iMovie, the only tc that references back to the original tapes would be the burned in tc. sb On 11/26/02 7:36 PM, "Derek Raby" <derekraby at sympatico.ca> wrote: > I'm not sure how you'll be able to have the source clips' timecode appear in > the burn-in, rather than the sequence's time code (sb - how is this done?), > but... > > If you do write up an EDL from the Timecode burn-in, you'll probably want to > add 2 seconds or so of pad on either side of your in and out points > ("handles") so your Avid friend has a little room to do cross fades and > dissolves in and out of your clips. > > Alternately, another option might be to make a sequence with all the source > clips used in your edit lined up in order (with extra pad added on the ends) > and output that to a DV tape and import those clips into the Avid. > > DR > > > On 11/26/02 8:38 AM, "Mark Glick" wrote: > >> Good idea.
