Pauline, For years I thought Maxtor's were crap! Who knows maybe they have gotten better. When my Quantum crashed I bought a 40GB Maxtor and it is rock solid. When I finally upgrade to Premiere 6.5 I will then add 120GB and 200GB external LaCie Firewire HD's. Chris
