[MacDV] External Firewire Drives stink?

Let's just say that I've learned not to let my new G4 go to sleep with 
iMovie and Movie Maestro running.  It could have been either or both, 
but was in the same position of having to hold the power button to 
fully recover. (iMovie quit after 2 force quits; same for Movie 
Maestro; Finder did not relaunch after several tries)
