I'm exploring moving the Video work that I do on my 1.6Ghz P4 WinXP Pro system over to my nice new G5 2x2 (upgrade from a G4/450 AGP which I never bothered to try and do video on). On WinXP Pro I use an app called "TMPGEnc Plus", (I've paid the $50 so that I can encode MPEG2 for DVD's, for VCD's and SVCD's it's free). I'd love to find an app that does this good at encoding MPEG1 on the Mac! I've tried the software recommended in the July 2003 issue of MacAddict (MediaPipe & the MissingMpegTools), iVCD, and I've also tried Toast 6. None of these tools seem to be able to create MPEG1 video that is as clear as that which I can create with TMPGEnc when I max out the quality settings (I've maxed them on each of the Mac apps I've tried).
