Aloha Jim, I do have QT Pro 6.4 installed, but this is not a quicktime problem, as the fault occurs immediately upon bootup - from the time the grey apple splashscreen appears, there are rows of narrow rectangular artifacts superimposed on top of the computer video output (to a 23" cinema). I can make out what the output is, and can choose restart from the apple menu, and always the second bootup will display the output normally.
