This has been my experience too. Virtually any dvd I've made with NTSC are playable in the UK. And no one I've found is able to play a PAL dvd in the States. I make all my dvd's in NTSC for family members in London, Poland and California. All play without problem. If I make them in PAL both my Polish son and Californian daughter have trouble.
