I used Alkaline rechargeables in my battery recharger (for use with a flash on a digital camera) and came home to find a pool of gunk in my recharger and dead batteries. Read the small print on the back of the recharger and it said to use only NiMH in the charger. Lesson learned. They were toasty hot too, glad the place didn't burn down.
