Which makes you wonder...couldn't someone build a decent scanner (especially one for slides & negatives) that has a 2-D CCD and can thus do a scan in less than a second? Not quite sure how that would work in a flatbed scanner, unless you had a really tall one, but it sure seems like somebody needs to start creating 2-D film and print scanners so that we can scan piles of stuff quickly.
