Thanks for adding a very good point that I had forgotten to include in 
my reply. I can read my logs and tell if something is trying to "phone 
home," and believe me I'd know if RealPlayer was doing that. It isn't 
(beyond the extent that I told it to, that is).

In fact, I'm not aware of *any* true "Spyware" on the Mac (using the 
term in the same sense as PC users do), though I don't run Limewire 
(which on the PC version is notorious for this behaviour) so I couldn't 
say about that. What does Little Snitch tell you about it (assuming you 
have tried it out)?

I think the closest thing we Mac users have to spyware is the latest 
version of Quicken (or was it Quickbooks?) that got called out for some 
unnecessary home-phoning. ISTR reading something on MacFixit or 
Macintouch about that, but perhaps someone on the list could clarify.
