Not sure about iMovie, but I recently made a 12-minute QT file rendered from Premiere, and it took a little over 2 hours, and then about 45 minutes to burn the DVD. A lot will depend on the transitions you use, and in Premiere, I was also dealing with several layers of stills and video.
