Rehi, Yes you can install and boot X onto an external drive. I think iMovie captures/saves footage on the volume onto which you initally saved the Project. Doesn't it? I think all of later LaCie's should come with Oxford bridge. Which model is it? We sell those also - I could check to make sure... cheers, filipp > Hi! > > I'm looking to buy this La Cie HD to do video editing work, but I have > two questions which the staff at the Apple Store and La Cie's web site > are unable to answer: > > - can I partition this external HD and install MacOS X so that it's > bootable? > - will I be able to import DV footage with iMovie straight onto it > (bypassing my internal HD)? > > This appears to be a 7,200 rpm device, but I don't know if it comes with > an Oxford 911 bridge ... > > > Thanks > > > Francesc > > > ---------- > <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/MacDV.html>. > Send a message to <MacDV-DIGEST at themacintoshguy.com> to switch to the digest > version. > > XRouter | Share your DSL or cable modem between multiple computers! > Dr. Bott | Now $139.99 <http://www.drbott.com/prod/xrouter.html> > > Cyberian | Support this list when you buy at Outpost.com! > Outpost | http://www.themacintoshguy.com/outpost.shtml > > MacResQ Specials: LaCie SCSI CDR From $99!
