ZR45mc question

It's not obvious without the manual but on the ZR20, there is a little button inside the LCD screen fold-in 
area that is labelled "Pause/Record".  With the camera stopped in VCR (playback) mode, push this 
Pause/Record button and the camera will go into record mode but with the tape paused.  When you are 
ready to record the analog signal coming in, press the "play" button.  Camera will start recording.

Is it possible to record from analog sources onto the DV without the 
wireless remote?

It seems like it should be possible, but I can't seem to find the right
buttons to push.

Left the wireless remote in NYC by mistake, and I'm in Providence, about to
go to Toronto....
