+R is for stand-alone recorders. You might be able to burn one. It might 
not play in the target machine.
 for data or general use they are ok.(Backups etc>)

apologize and burn another on a different brand.
Do NOT give the inlaws a +R or an RW. Do give an APPLE disc or other 
good quality DVD-R .
