You were most helpful.
The SVCD is a success, and runs full-screen using MacVCD X on my iBook 
DVD.
(It won't run on my G3 B&W:  spinning beach ball)

Isn't it strange that Toast can create an SVCD, but the manual doesn't 
mention it?
