imovie quits

Hi,
Please send any inspiration on what to do to stop imovie from quitting on me 
indiscriminately. I am operating in OSX, with a G4 dual processor Mac. I have 
27 MB left in memory (?) and my 19 minute movie quits when I am tweaking the 
product before final export to idvd/quicktime. It's up maybe 3 minutes and 
shuts down again. This is my first project on imovie and I'm in dire need of 
direction that does not come in imovie help.
