canon vs. sony dv cameras?

dear all,

I'm getting tired of borrowing friends' cameras and am ready to make a
purchase--a consumer single CCD camera. initially thought I would go with
sony--I'm pretty happy with the digital still camera I bought from them--but
have been hearing that the canons work better in low-light situations. have
any of you had experience with both that might help me make a decision?

the sony I'm considering is the TRV38, the canon would likely be an optura.
