External FireWire daisy chain

I can't claim direct experience, but this seems like hooey to me. When 
an application accesses a device on the FireWire bus, I doubt it can 
even tell which port it's connected to. Even though a machine may have 
2 (or more) ports, I believe it's all the same logical bus.
