I've been following the diuscussion about problems reading DVD-RAM disks. I have one also, but it's different. I just installed a 105 Superdrive in my G4 and put my DVD-RAM (original model, 5.2 GB Type 1 only) in a Firewire box (Ssorry, Kunga, I just couldn't bear to attack my G4 with tin snips!). It works fine, but when I tried some new DVD-RAM disks I bought recently (Panasonic Type 1), and clicked "initialize," nothing happened. And I mean nothing. Even if it sat for thirty minutes. I had to open Disk Utility to eject the cartridge. Just for fun, I booted in 9.2.2, and all the disks initialized perfectly and instantly. Having been initialized, they now work perfectly in 10.4.3. Anyone have any idea why OS X wouldn't initialize them while 9.2 would?? Tom
