iMovie import Limits (time/size)

2 digests ago I asked about iMovie 3 limits on importing a QT movie ( 
320X240 size, mtion jpeg comression used on orgiginal analog import) - 
because it *chocked* midway trying to import it! I exported at DV stream, 
but that made it 6 gigs & iMovie gave message file too big"

So I thought to ask on this list - can anyone tell me the "import limits" 
of imovie 3 

(I'm assuming these limits dont exist when importing a from a DV camera o 
people would be screaming)

But when I asked only one person made a reply & that was to say he found 
it worked when he kept clips under 10 minutes (!!)

Can anyone address this from experence? What is the value of iMovie now 
being able to do chapetrs if one must chop up the movie into 10 minute 
segments to import to iMovie? 

I must be doing something wrong because this is absurd - can anyone 
clarify this from their own experience?
