iDVD Media problem

I've observed that projects burned in 90 minute mode in iDVD can't be
mounted on most older Macs with DVD drives (pismo powerbook, AGP G4, Yikes
G4). It seems that I can make a copy of such a disk using DVDBackup and
Toast which will mount on those machines. Has anyone else observed such a
problem? Any idea why that might be the case? Thanks.
