The Boston Final Cut Pro User Group - BOSFCPUG (http://www.bosfcpug.org) is bringing Final Cut Pro 4 for the first time to Boston to give the Boston filmmaking community a rare opportunity since Apple's announcement at NAB to see FCP 4 in action. The next meeting of the BOSFCPUG will be held on Wednesday, May 7 from 7pm - 10pm, in Room 206 at the Photonics Center at Boston University, located at 8 Saint Mary's Street, Boston. Special guest Don Peebles of Apple will be joined by others for a live demo of Final Cut Pro 4. Don will go in depth, takes questions, gather feedback and show off all that is FCP 4. There will be a look the new AJA Video IO BOB (http://www.ajavideo.com), which delivers high quality 10-bit uncompressed video and multi-channel 24-bit audio over FIREWIRE. Developed in close cooperation with Apple, IO was designed to take full advantage of powerful new features in Final Cut Pro 4. Reps from LaCie Ltd. (http://www.lacie.com) will also be on hand to preview their new FireWire 800 D2 external drives chained and striped in a FireWire 800 RAID 0 configuration to show how the new FireWire 800 technology can reach unprecedented sustained transfer rates of up to 100MB/s, making them ideal for working with professional video in high-end workstation and small-server environments. In addition, Michael Oh of Tech Superpowers, Inc. (http://www.techsuperpowers.com) and NewburyOpen.net (http://www.newburyopen.net/marathon) will recap the collaborative effort between Tech Superpowers and members of the BOSFCPUG to give Boston Marathon attendees a chance to greet runners and family via video postcards using Apple technology and provide WiFi access during the event.
