Well, you didn't give a lot of info about your intended use, but here goes... If you're new to DV editing, I'd say get your feet wet with iMovie and learn what editing is all about. Do a few small projects and you'll become a better videographer as well. If you've been using iMovie or equivalent awhile and are ready for something that gives you more control over the editing process, then FCE is a real bargain. It has 98% of the features of Final Cut Pro (it is the same code) at 1/3 the price. Unlike iMovie, FCE is rock-stable and runs fine on my PB G3/500. And the whole concept of non-destructive editing is such a quantum leap beyond iMovie that you really have to experience it to appreciate it. You can put together a rough cut, then go back and fine tune your edits with amazing ease and flexibility. It takes longer to learn than iMovie, but don't get bogged down by that. Go through the tutorials on Apple's site (http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress/theater/), do a short 5 minute project or two, then buy Final Cut Express Visual Quickstart by Lisa Brenneis and you're on your way. You'll never look back. Good Movie Making, Jim
